Over the weekend MASS.prduction was invited to participate in ‘Twist‘, a craft show deep in the backwoods of Western Mass.  We made some new freinds, saw some old ones, and generally had an awesome time!  We’ve put together a little slideshow to give you  a taste of the kick ass crafts that were on display.

Ashley hearts 8x10 contact prints

Ashley B. Clark is a straight shooter and her 8×10 negative large format box camera is her bfff (best fucking friend forever).  She brought in some of her contact prints for a special Locally Grown preview show MASS.production put together @ first fridays on Thayer Street in the South End.  If you’re not familiar with first fridays,  the first friday of every month artists along Harrison Avenue (particulalrly Thayer Street) open their doors to the public.  It’s usually in conjunction with South End gallery openings so really its a win win for anyone interested in local art.  MASS.production will hopefully being doing more guerilla installations during first fridays so keep your eye out, your ear to the ground, and your nose in the air (we smell awesome).

MASS.production and The Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) present a show of 10
young, local artists at FPACs recently opened  Gallery @ 12 Farnsworth, an alternative art space in Fort Point. The show opens  April 8th with an opening reception Thursday, April 16th featuring live music and an opportunity to meet the artists and hang out in Bostons industrial underbelly.

MASS.production (with headquarters in Fort Point) is an indie collective of self-representing artists who sell work at art markets like the Design Hive and SoWa Open Market and team up to put on shows and events. For Locally Grown, co-founder Justin Viglianti curates both large and small pieces from each member of the collective and guest artists who share the philosophy that art should be affordable and accessible and generally more awesome.

The pieces chosen for the show reflect the current DIY ethic and trends in parodied social commentary and imagined realities rendered with bold graphics and specific attention to craft. The work ranges in medium from silk-screened prints and marker illustrations to large format analog photos and multi-media collage. All artists involved are offering smaller work for the show, many at prices under $100.

The show is hosted by FPACs Gallery @ 12 Farnsworth, which is an artist occupied
commercial space run for artists, by artists. The Gallery shares space with Made in Fort Point, The FPAC Store which sells the art, design and craft of over 50 Fort Point artists, open Monday-Saturday. The gallery, store and openings are free and open to the public.
